My 2020 edits and purchases in review

If you have been around you might recall that at the end of every year for at least the last 7 years I have been doing a balance on what I have bought during the year vs what has left the closet.

Last year there were so many things going on I never finished it. However this year goes like this:

My top 3 purchases were dresses, 17 of them ! Followed by 13 tops/blouses and 12 trousers, which by the way added up to 617.14 USD total spent in 2020. Note that some items that went in the closet were gifts.

When it comes to edits, well, my most edited item were tops/blouses, actually 14 of them, followed by 10 dresses and 10 necklaces.

I got 100 new items in my closet and 87 were edited.

December closet editions

These are my December edits.
Some items were passed on as gifts, others were sold and
another bunch was donated.

First off were these earrings which I got at a blogger event, I liked them,
wore them but I never felt like me in them and I gave them to
a co worker that wears them beautifully.

My beloved pair of Me Too leopard flats did not do well all of this time in the closet and they began
to fall apart, these were purchased in September 2013, worn at least 21 times, cost per wear was about 2.00 USD. These two Panama hats were also affected by humidity.

A gold tone chain necklace that was a failed DIY was also edited from the closet.

Black Danskin tee shirt purchased in March 2014, was in really bad shape and I took it to cents per wear.
Then my black blazer with white pencil skirt, this set from Nine West was a good
buy, I wore it a lot in previous years, but I realized I did not wear them that much anymore.
Well to tell you the truth my work wear has not been worn much due to the current situation.
But this sent in particular I felt I need to let go, I sold it for 10.00 USD and made a small profit on it.

The red blouse from Forever 21 is one of my very few red blouses, happens it has a small stain on it and the buttons on the back have begun to darken so it is now gone. The black shirt with the puffy sleeves is from April Lost... January 2012, I felt the sleeves were ok but the neck hole was too big, so I sold it.

Then comes this grey blouse with bow from a Target brand called Go International, it's
been around for about 10 years.
I've had second thoughts about it for a while and do not wear it much, so off it goes,
I will see if I can sell it.

I got these jeans at a swap a few years ago and wore them a lot, but now they are a bit saggy and I really have better garments in my closet but keep going back to this one so I chose to let go.

13 items edited in December.

November edits

Yes, another end of the month edit!

Although there were just a few edits this month they were needed.
Starting with this a line baby blue pleather skirt for ASTR purchased in November 2015. I remember having second thoughts when buying this skirt because of the material, but I truly loved the shape and colour so I went for it. However what I suspected would happen that day when I purchased it , actually did. The pleather began to peel. I only got two wears out of it. I knew it.

Then its this pair of black Me Too flats, purchased on a trip to San Diego in April 2016.
I thought the round toe was not that flattering, however I needed to replace
my black flats, so I bought them.
Wore them about 16.00 USD, about 1,40 USD per wear, not bad.

The bell bottom 975 Levi's re edition jeans. I bought these on a trip to Universal Studios at a mall somewhere nearby. I loved they were a re make of a vintage silhouette.
Purchased them and wore them very little. Wore them in 2010, 2012, 2013, in 2014.
Wore them about 20 times.
I actually edited them from my closet in 2014 because they were really tight.
I tried again in 2016, they fit.
But, they never left the house, they were stored in another closet for a couple of years.
Now and then I would try them on to see if maybe the fit .
I took them out of the closet tried them on one more time and sold them.

So, long story short, 3 closet edits.

How are your closed edits coming along?

October Closet Editions

There are many things I have lost track of these months.
Edits might be one of them, but like everything else,
I hope to get back on track.

These Jones New York sunglasses have been around for years, I stopped wearing them
as I have been drawn to larger oversized sunglasses. I sold them :)

Chinese overalls purchased in May 2019  and worn about 5 times. I sold them as the fit was not the best and I own another two pairs overalls, plus I made a small profit.

I also edited my ted kimono made by Lucca, it had been around since at least 2012.
Worn about six times in 8 years, it was a garment that I wore the same way over and over, there was no more fun in it, so I sold it.

My vintage red, orange, black, blue vintage scarf got very little wear so I sold it and made a small profit.

Then there was the red, white and blue retro dress, I never did a closet addition post as I was unsure about keeping it from day one, so I sold it with a small profit.

Also edited and sold were this black vintage Italian top and this grey scarf,
both gifts that were never worn.

Seven items edited in one month, all sold.

September closet editions

In September I edited a red H&M skirt  purchased in February 2016.
I sold it for about the same amount I bought it for, so it worked out great considering I wore it at least 4 times.

Then it was the vintage Chanel shoes I bought, they were big so I sold them and I made a profit on them ;)

The red striped button down shirt from Topshop was also edited, it was purchased in August 2018 and worn 3 times. I like the style but it was a little big so I chose to let go and sold it with a profit.

3 edits,

How are your closet edits coming along?

August Editions

I have lost track of my edits, however these are two of them. One is a set of bracelets in black, fuchsia, teal and gold beads that I've had forever and barely wore.
During quarantine I posted them on my IG for second hand goods and sold them.

The same goes for this Carol Lee New York black dress which I also sold because it felt big on my frame, also sold with a profit ;)

2 items in August.

July closet edits

Most of the items I have edited from my closet I have sold on my IG account.

This month it started with a ceramic lighthouse pin which I barely wore and was always concerned would break. Then there was the bronze hourglass pendant, which I bought, wore 4 or 5 times and then just never wore again.

The mirror pendant was a 2011 purchase, I was in Washington DC and picked up several pendants on chains, I chose to get rid of this one as I have not worn it in ages, made a small profit.
The other 3 tier necklace was a gift and I just have not worn it in so long I chose to let go and sold it.

This pearl necklace / belt with ribbon has been around for years, at least 15 years, I recall going back and fourth on buying it was it was not cheap. I do know that I did not wear it much and it made no sense to keep holding on to it.

At the end of 2019 I had a trip to Mexico and did some vintage shopping, I acquired these wooden disc earrings and for some reason I chose to resell them. I hope I do not regret it.

This long houndstooth print scarf has been in the closet since at least 2010, while I am not 100% sure, I think it was purchased in an airport, probably on my way to a Caribbean Island.
I have no idea how much it cost but I already sold it.

The Missoni like dress was a thrift find that I wore to cents per wear and then sold ;)

The black, grey and white BCBG Max Azria blouse was a purchase from November 2019, must have been somewhere around 5.00 USD, I wore it a few times but it was a bit big so I sold it.

The two silver tone cuffs were picked up at a yard sale in December 2017, the last yard sale I attended as they are not common here. I sold them as I did not wear them much and guess what?
Apparently they were silver.

This Calvin Klein button shirt I originally bought to sell, but I wore it a few times while it did sell.
A grey oversized scarf that was a birthday gift and I never wore.

This black textile flower necklace dates back to at least 2009, I wore it at least 6 times,
thought it was time to let go, it's actually been sold.

Then there was a brown vintage velour suit I wore briefly and horribly made by Innocense purchased in March 2018 and just worn twice.

A bright pink Bandana Isaac Mizrahi for Target dress.

Two beaded necklaces, one orange, one turquoise, I had purchased and did not know
if I would resell or keep, I resold.

16 items in one month.

June Closet Editions

I have been editing the closet and selling the items on my IG account. Here is what left the closet in June.

Brown leather Lancaster vintage hand bag, purchased in February 2018 for 13.00 USD worn at least 5 times, sold with a small profit.

This Swarovski mother of pearl and rhinestone necklace was worn maybe 5 times in 13 years, not enough, it was in its nice big blue box so I chose to let go. It was a gift from the Swarovski company for buyers from a convention I attended years ago. I remember when I got it, I was so excited! It was my fist Swarovski item ever.

Also edited an Antille Femme grey and orange buffalo print dress or shirt and the purple velvet blazer by George over 10 years old, worn about 6 times.  I sold them both with a profit.

Light lime green mules by Liz Claiborne purchased at the beginning of 2019, I never wore them, sold them with a profit. The navy dress Isaac Mizrahi for Target has been around since the beginning of the blog, worn very, very little, maybe twice since 2009. So I tried it on and it did not fit and if I have not worn it in 10 years and its tight, well, what are the odds of me wearing it any time soon?

The hammered silver ring and the extra large oval pink enamel were both gifts. I have worn them both but just decided it was time to let go.

The silver necklace with the mother of pearl ovals was a purchase of over 20 years ago, before I use to wear a lot of silver before and I have not worn it in a while.
Also the Hello Kitty enamel earring and pendant were a purchase from a few years ago in Mexico City, I do not feel is my style any more. Both sold.

Hello Kitty silver earrings also purchased in Mexico, no longer worn. The same for the sun, moon and stars bracelet. Sold both.

A purchase from February 2018 this cat print silk scarf by Laurel Burch, wore once in two years, sold with a profit.

I purchased this grey Prologue dress in March 2020 in a street market, wore it once and it was a bit tight on the back so I sold it with a profit. The grey sequin Michael Kors dress was purchased in April 2012 worn maybe once or twice, sold with a profit. The cherry dress was also from the March street market, wore it several times but it looked big and I always had to be tugging it, also sold it.

White vintage snake skin belt, it was a gift from my great aunt, last time I wore it was at least 3 years ago, I think it was the only time I ever wore it. The brown patent Miu Miu bow flats, worn once, they were a bit big. I chose to sell both items and they are currently in new homes.

Off white sailor top by Joie and the Alexis trousers were second hand items I picked up but never wore. The top I sold and the trousers I passed on to someone else.

I've had this cuff since at least 2009, I have worn it at least 6 times in these years but it is not something I grab often, so I decided to part ways with it.

21 items for June.
