2014 Purchases vs Edits

Purchases

First of all, I did not stay within my own budget.

Exactly 610.83 USD over.

The items I purchased the most were:

 shoes 18, tops 18 and dresses 13.

The items I purchased the least of were:

Brooches / pins 1 and, shorts and trousers 2 of each.

Must admit I was quite surprised about the trousers.

Edits

I try to edit monthly, it just works better for me.

This year I edited about 136 pieces.

For the first time ever I sold some of the garments

in a local flea market, which was kind of fun.

I had hoped to edit more, but it just did not happen.

If I go by category, the items I let go most of were tops.

These include shirts, tshirts, sweater and it was 27 of them.

Also shoes, I gave away 17 pairs of shoes.

Dresses came in third, with 15 pieces.

I was quite surprised at purchasing 2 trousers but giving away 11.

I think it has to do with the fact that my weight fluctuation

just made me get rid of a lot of them.

Giving it a positive twist, more items left the closet (136 pieces)

than entered it (97 pieces).

For 2015, I'd like to get rid of at least 200 pieces

and stay within a 1,500.00 USD budget.

I guess, I'll just have to wait and see how that works out.

December's Closet Edits

With so much going on, December is usually not a 

good month for closet edits, nevertheless some got done.

First were a pair of pearl hoop earrings I purchased last month.

I loved them but they were really heavy, so I gave them away.

Also gone were a pair of plastic rose earrings.

To be honest I have several pairs of yellow flower earrings.

A mood ring, it was too big and I never wore it.

A gold tone stainless steel Tous bear like necklace.

Silver tone and black rhinestone earrings, I have several ones that look alike.

My new BCBG grey pumps purchased in October 2014.

Worn 3 times before they began to fall apart, 

I returned them to the store.

Black patent Guess wedges, worn 6 times in five years.

Brand new black Geox pumps bought in October 2014.

I was so excited they were on sale I did not realise they

were not my size, that is until I tried them on :(

Another item leaving in a green sleeveless Adiva top.

A blue satin like cardigan by Yessica.

Mint like Calvin Klein jeans cardigan, cut was not flattering and cardigans have 

not been my favourites lately.

I use to wear it a lot - it's been worn 10 times in the last 5 years.

Black My Michelle skirt, it seemed a little too costumey

and has been worn once in five years.

That's it: 12 items for December.

November editing

This month I gave several items one last try, 

most likely one last wear.

My green Tangerine brand jacket did not make the cut.

Another item was a rust colour cardigan made by American Ragcie.

The cardigan was purchased in April 2011 for 5.99 USD and was 

worn 6 times since then, mostly in 2011.

I doubted the shape and then noticed a big tear.

And for a dollar a wear, I think it got the job done.

My beige short sleeve jacket by Sawary was

also edited this time around, it was not working for me.

Another item was my Panabrisa button down shirt.

It was too small, the colour was not my favourite, I never wore it

and finally I did not even like it that much.

I also let go of  brown jeans made by Style & Co. 

I fell, tore the jeans and that was the end of them.

Have had them since 2010 and wore them about 20 times.

I'd kept them if it was not for the hole.

A pair of gold and beige earrings were also let go.

I wore them because I had them, not because

I really liked them.

My butterfly tote was also one to go.

7 items this month.

How's your closet editing coming along ?

October editing

Editing the closet in October, resulted of 

several items leaving:

Grey Rampage skirt, its part of a two piece set.

The fabric stretched out in the butt area, so I gave it up.

Kept the blazer.

Talbots skirt, it was too big. 

It was a hand me down and I wore it very few times.

Blue Freesite dress, purchased in February 2011 for about 10.00 USD.

Worn 5 times, thought it was time to let it go because the chest area was

always an issue when wearing it - 

Sandra Darren printed dress, it was a gift.

I wore it about 3 times in 5 years, an item with that little wear should not be taking up space in my closet.

My printed Helmut Lang dress.

I bought it on sale a few years ago and never wore it.

So I thought it was time to let go.

Apt. 9 printed green top, also a gift.

I always had to pull on this top as it was quite revealing.

Worn about 5 times in 5 years.

Light blue two piece Quest top.

Worn probably twice in 5 years, its no longer my style.

Green multicoloured lariat like necklace.

Never wear it and when I do, I'm always afraid

it will break.

Pink silver and bead bracelet, never wear it.

October total: 9 items.

When was it the last time you edited your closet ?

September closet edits

September closet edit time.

A lace Have tank top, it was a hand me down and

was not worn much. I sold it at the flea market.

Yet another 7 For All Mankind pair of jeans.

Great wash but it was too low cut.

Purchased in April 2012, my pink Papaya jeans

were really low cut - still, I wore them 12 times,

taking cost per wear to about 0.50 cents a wear.

Fergalicious beige pumps.

I bought these on line a few years back.

They were pretty worn.

Worn at least 30 times on the blog, I got my

money's worth :)

Another one to go was this black patent Xoxo wristlet.

Never, ever worn. I decided to let it go 

because it rusted.

My turquoise enamel butterfly earrings were also

let go. I figure I have enough small earrings.

Another item that I let go of was this 

silver tone mother of pearl necklace.

My white mother of pearl like sunnies.

These were purchased in November 2011 for

the sum of 5.99 USD.

I wore them to death, yeah and they fell apart.

For a change, this month I also went through my formal wear.

Got rid of a pink ABS Evening dress that I wore to three weddings and when I tried it on it looked hideous.

Also in the bag a Eureka dress that I also wore to three weddings and decided that it was timeto get rid of it, it also looked awful.

Finally a gold Bari Jay dress, worn once, it no longer fits me or my current style and lets not forget that this takes a lot of room in the closet.

August Closet Edits

Here we go, another month of closet edits:

My brown Drn Brn jacket, worn three times in this blog's life.

It's just tight and 3 times in 5 years means that I am not that into it.

My MNG Mango t shirt with braided necklace was purchased in July 2011

for 23.00 USD. Worn about 10 times, taking it to about 2.30 USD per wear.

I found a small hole in it the last time I wore it. 

My orange Uniform top, worn 3 times in 5 years.

I always had to tug on it because the shoulders kept slipping.

Off it goes.

Another orange item: my Calvin Klein bright sleeveless button down shirt.

Older than this blog, it was worn about 5 times in the last 5 years.

I am also letting go.

My black old mini skirt from Fashion Art USA is also in the give away bag.

My 1974 Bell Levi jeans remake.

They are tight, I am not feeling the wide bell bottoms.

Purchased in November 2009, these were worn about 10 times.

My last item is a dear one: my purple Kenneth Cole bag purchased 

in 2011 for 24.99 USD. I got a lot of wear out of it, over 60 wears.

However I suddenly stopped wearing it and left it in the closet and

the humidity got to it and it began to fall apart. The pvc on the handles

began to peel off and I felt to guilty for letting this happen :(

Another item was this white crocheted vintage collar.

It honestly did not look good on me, I wore it once or twice 

decided to sell it at the flea market.

Finally this colourful Michelle cardigan. I did not wear it much.

Last time I wore it I was not fully convinced and when I took 

it off I realised it had a tiny hole.

Just what I needed to convince myself to let it go.

That's 9 items this month.
