Semi-formal Edit

If there is another thing I am guilty of is purchasing semi-formal wear, cocktail dresses and long gowns even if there is no party in the horizon.
When I find a beautiful dress that fits well and is fairly priced, I will usually buy it. This is pretty much how this dark brown, grey and pink brocade strapless dress came into my closet. Purchased about 8 or more years ago, it's been worn just twice to not so formal weddings and today it no longer zips.
I have a friend who is happy to receive it in her closet and I sure hope that she dances the night away in it !
Are you a fan of formal wear ? How many long party gowns do you own ?

I barely own any formal dresses because I never, ever have occasion to wear them and, honestly, that totally bums me out because I always want to buy them when I see ones that fit me in a shop and I fight the urge every time.

So nice that you found a good home for it. I like it - I would have been drawn to it too.

I have a large collection (about 12) of formal dresses. I rotate them every 4-5 years so that they look "new" when I get around to wearing them again. I also loan them out to friends (they have to clean it before returning). I never pay much for them, and it's usually months before I wear them.

I'm excited about wearing this one, even though it probably won't be until next fall! https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IT_dr7FG3W0/Wm6DXKS8CoI/AAAAAAAA0n0/CsPkxvFdDqcnzX3noH75dtcE36_QQfsJgCLcBGAs/s1600/045.JPG

It's a beautiful dress, and great that your friend can take it off your hands! :) I don't have many formal dresses left in my wardrobe, I'm just not a formal dress person, haha! I'll try make a maxi dress a little more glam for a big event, as they happen so rarely :)

Hope you have a lovely Easter weekend ahead of you! We had a little beach time today which was a wonderful way to start the long weekend.

Oh that is such a pretty dress! It sounds like you enjoyed it for a while and it's nice that you can give it a new home :) I do think it's smart to have a pretty, semi-fancy dress on hand so you're prepared for anything!

You friend will be really happy as the dress is wonderful! I own rarely formal dresses as in Bavaria it is often usual to wear Dirndls for more formal events.

I have the same problem of buying a fancy dress with no occasion to wear it. But at least you always seem to have an endless stream of weddings. This dress is very pretty, but I'm sure it will be loved by it's new owner.

It's a pretty pattern. Too bad you to have give it away. I actually don't buy a lot of formal or semi-formal attire. I guess it's because I know I'd have no place to wear it.

That's actually a great practice! When an event comes up, you have something. I use to have a lot, but I don't go to any parties.
