Boa Noite in portuguese means: Good Night !

When I travel for work
I am usually up really early, in fact I wake up
several times at night just to check on the clock.
(yes, I am obsessive like that)
One of my fears is not being ready or being late.

My stay in Manaus has been crazy busy,
barely leaving me time to breathe - however it has been
very pleasant.

This city in the heart of the Amazon has really interesting homes
and places that were built when Manaus had a
"Belle Epoque" due to the production of rubber.
It was such a wealthy city that the rich women who lived here,
sent their laundry - yes their clothes to be washed- to Europe.
From that golden time there is one building which is one of the most
famous: Teatro Amazonas - their opera house.

The Teatro Amazona is a real treat for the eyes - at least from the outside...

Oh and in case you were wondering, yes I tried
the pirahna soup.
To be honest I dislike soup and this one
was pretty tasty and did not have a "fishy" taste.
I can scratch "drinking pirahna soup" off my list.
(right ! like it was ever on my list...)

I Love the mix of polka dots and animal print! I also have a fear of being late or not being ready. I am glad I am not alone with this lol.

Have you ever seen the movie "Fitzcarraldo" by Werner Herzog (it stars Klaus Kinski)? It opens up at that Opera House, with a performance by Caruso. Fitzcarraldo (Kinski) is so taken with this performance that he dreams of building his own opera house in the middle of the Amazon jungle. The movie features a very famous scene of a riverboat being hauled up and over a mountain (which happened in real life). It's a very odd movie, but worth seeing, if only because you have now been there!
