DIY: Old shoes... less old shoes

These comfy flats were purchased a few years ago in Barcelona.
They are soft and I have walked the Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, Ramblas in Barcelona, the local supermarket and many other places wearing these.
Which is why they now look like this:
Since I really want them around for at least a few more months I decided to dye them in black.
I went out and got:
- Buffalo brand black shoe dye
- Buffalo brand black shoe shine
- Bristle brush and cotton rag

First I cleaned them really well and removed the shoe laces.
Then with the brush applicator, proceeded to apply the dye.

I then let them dry for a week.
Got a cotton rag and applied the black shoe shine, let it air dry for a few seconds and then shined away with the bristle brush.
While doing this I remembered my Grandfather who use to be the one who cleaned and dyed my shoes.

In fact the wood box where I keep the items to clean my shoes with use to be Grandpa's.
The outcome was okay.
No jumping around, marvelous outcome.
Let's just say this DYI saved me a couple of bucks and kept me busy.

It is always satisfying to save something precious. I can't imagine you ever wanting to throw those shoes out. Well done.
