Jeans Not Your Daughter's Jeans NYDJ - Printed top Escada Sport vintage - Light blue bow flats Gio Zanotti - Bag Venezia |
Several weeks ago I spotted this odd looking blouse at the consignment store. Turned out it was vintage Escada Sport and it came with a matching skirt, from the label, I would day its probably early 90's. Anyways, I tried the top on and the weird clown like collar seemed totally appealing. I could tighten the ribbon and wear as I am today or let is loose and wear as an off the shoulder top or even backwards. Now, the skirt is another story, it was two sizes bigger than the top and I did not like it, but the top's appeal was such that I bought the set anyway. The skirt has moved on to another consignment store. Today is this top's first wear.
Have you bought sets just because you like one of the pieces ?
Its actually the second time I am drawn to purchase a two piece set just to keep one of the items.

I actually have not bought a piece because I didn't like the other part of the set. It is one of my excuses when I want to avoid shopping!
Yep, I've definitely done that before! Haha. And sometimes it's fun to wear them separately as well (too bad you had to get rid of the skirt though)

What an unusual top! Yes, I've bought sets for a single piece - the best example is my red cheongsam top from Le Chateau. I bought it on consignment, off their sale rack for about $14.00. It came with a matching fabric mini-skirt, but the skirt was an XS (I couldn't even get it up my thigh!). Since the top was a M, that made no sense to me, but I really wanted the top, and it's been a stalwart in my wardrobe for years now. I gave the skirt to a tiny friend. Win, win!
What a great and unusual find! I love that you can style it different ways. I would buy a set, if I really loved one of the pieces, since it's tricky to find a set where both pieces fit perfectly!
As usual great post) Thanks for sharing!
Honestly I don't think I've ever been in a situation where something comes in a set. I can see why you got both though because the top is unique and so pretty!
I like that you can wear the top so many different ways! :)
I have one vintage set that was handmade I suspect as there are no labels. I adore the skirt, however the top I find tricky to wear as it's not as well made as the skirt - there are a few loose threads. I do like to wear them both together occasionally as it looks like a very pretty dress, but if I had to chose my favourite part it would definitely be the skirt! :)
Hope you are having a lovely start to the week :)

I'm so glad you were able to style one of the pieces. Looks great on you.

Yes, I did that this past fall. I spotted an olive green suede vest that seemed pretty awesome (though I've yet to wear it) and it had a matching mini skirt which was too mini for me in every way. I was kind of hoping the person I knew would be at the counter and sell me just the vest for half, however they were not, so I paid full price and said I was donating back the skirt then and there.
