Another altered dress...

I love vintage.
Which means when I find something I like,
if it's not my size- which is most of the time - I have to make adjustments.
Most of the time I wear items in their original state the first time and on the "field" realize what needs to be done.
I wore this dress a few months back and then took it to the seamstress for some slight alterations.
Instead of what I had in mind (sew in a little at the sides) the seamstress recommended I open the neck area.
So I skipped the sides and had her open up the neck area.
So, it went from this:

To this:

The slight change it positive, but I still feel that the dress
needs to be adjusted in the sides because it feels a little lose.

So, I will be taking it to the seamstress again.
Sometimes garments go to the seamstress 4 times before I
finally get that fit I want.

I found a dress/housecoat that I'd love to wear as an accessory basically, and it needs tailoring as well, but I'm so torn. Your tailoring seems so minimal, yet lovely. Vintage clothing makes me a bit insane. : )

that is such a great print!! You must have a seamstress you really trust. I thought about taking my lace top to a professional to get altered, but I got scared and didnt.
I don't trust professionals with scissors. if someone is going to ruin my clothes, it's just going to have to be me.

Chic on the Cheap

Precioso vestido también!!!

I think that a lot of people look at a garment and think it can only be worn the way it is. They miss out on getting it made the way they want it. I'm glad to see you take a pretty dress and make it yours.

The print on that dress is great! I do like the cut out at the neck your seamstress suggested.

it actually looks great both ways!

there are certain necklines that i cannot/will not wear, as they just are NOT flattering on me. i need a v or a deep v. boatnecks are the worst for me. well, the peter pan neckline is THE ABSOLUTE WORST and i just die when i see it. but that is just me! i know, i know -- i am a goon. :)
