So it was announced that my colleague had an invitation to London to attend an event. 

She did not have a visa for UK and I did not need one.

So...

I ended up on a flight to London that I was not supposed to be on.

I went to an event that I was not supposed to attend.

The flight was delayed therefore I missed my connecting flight.

Had to spend the night in Houston and then catch another plane the day after.

I guess it was not meant to end well if it was not supposed to happen.

But it did.
