This year it was about spending Christmas in a different way.

Meaning, leaving the comfort of your home, driving a few hours and just
spend the day helping out.
This not only takes your mind off whatever it is rambling about, but also forces you to just stop and focus on other things, bigger things.
It was gratifying to, for once just not care about the gifts under the tree
and do something for someone else...
Even if it meant to be asleep on a hammock, by yourself,
by the time it was midnight.

I love the magic of Christmas too much to not celebrate it in the same way every year (I don't need the gifts, but the tree and family are important) but that sounds like so much fun. Just getting away from everything. :)
