I'm not sure the quote is true all the time, sometimes when you give someone too much importance they realise and value you doing that, so you don't loose any value in their eyes. People that take things for granted are painful to be around, it's the ones who appreciate you for everything that you should surround yourself with in life I find.
I don't know if I agree..I value my husband and kids very much...more than myself and I am ok with that.

I think that may be true but only in an immature relationship or a relationship where one starts taking the other for granted. However, I think some relationships like mother/child, this quote would not normally apply. At least I hope not because my baby is more important to me than anything!!! Butim sure some day as a teen he'll take his mama for granted too!!
hmmm. interesting theory. i am rather selfish (single, no kids, boyfriend that dotes on me), so i am not sure that i have fallen into this trap! lol.
