I wrote this post exactly 2 years ago and
never posted it...
"A lot of us have jobs or careers where we just don't make a difference
- impact wise in this world.

It's not like a decision you make will save the world
or a species from disappearing.

I still dream of that positive impact job -
of which I am far away from.

Early in life I wanted to be a teacher but I chose otherwise.
Lately I have been exploring the possibility of going back to school.
I called a nearby university and reviewed
their study plan for another MBA but this one is in Education.

I am checking my options money wise - meaning if I can afford it -
and also how available I will be to attend class due to my work travels.
I think that if I am able to do this, go back to school and get this degree,
I can fulfill this dream - and maybe in two years I could be teaching.
Hopefully then I can make an impact, a positive one.

So two years later.
I finally enrolled.
I have my first class today.

Excellent news.
I retrained as a teacher when I was 44.
When you are working with young people you have the opportunity to make a difference every single day.
And another thing - you will learn more from your students than you could possibly teach them.
I spent my break time with one of my blond students today. He demonstrated a range of machines and gadgets he used to ensure he is able to complete his course alongside sighted students.
I left in complete awe of him.
that should have been blind student not blond!!!!!
You are already making an positive impact. Doing so doesn't have to involve your job; making an impact can be small things that you may not even realize effect people.
For example - I'm certain that you've made a huge impact on the girls that you've mentioned before....the ones that you've provided motivation to improve their grades.
You've made a positive impact on me by encouraging me when I'm struggling.
I'm so glad that you've made the first step in reaching your dream! I have no doubt that you will fulfill this dream, and make an even bigger impact that you already are!
Wonderful! Congratulations on a big step! I am sending you lots of positive thoughts for energy. I went back to school at age 38 to become a psychotherapist. Best career move I ever made; now I love what I do.

You're a star! I admire everyone who wants to teach - I'm too shy so it doesn't really work for me (I used to teach but I much more prefer translating, I love sitting behind my computer with stacks of books!).

Wao, congratulations on pursuing your dreams! I think it's awesome that you want to make a differnce and you are actually doing it! Many people say they want to do this or that, but never take the first step towards achieving that goal (myself included many times). That is wonderful - good for you, Lorena! I went back to school when I was 30, to finish my degree. It was scary and amazing, and I am so glad I did it.

Good Luck to you with your masters. I got mine in Business and International Marketing. What will you be studying? I know you want to be a teacher but in what field, or what grade?
