Lately I have noticed that when I mention something I am wearing is vintage, second hand or from consignment reply is usually "Oh..." and that "oh" is followed by a few silent seconds. I wonder if its awe, or just that vintage effect.

Yeah, people just don't know how to respond to "it's vintage" - maybe it needs some further explanation from you? Like, "this is from the 80s, look at the wonderful quality/details, you just don't see 'em like this anymore." I know there is an uneducated contingent of people out there who think that vintage or second-hand means you've been in a gloomy dark, icky store full of moths and smelly things.
I love this dress on you, Lorena. The colour is stupendous and the skirt length is just lovely (and it's so swooshy!).
I think it must be because people are surprised/impressed - I mean this dress is so gorgeous.

That colour is just superb on you! How funny about people's reactions. Maybe they are disappointed that they can't rush out and buy one exactly the same!
I'm with Porcelina - they are probably just upset that they can't rush out and buy a similar one themselves! :)
I had a friend compliment my outfit today and I just bit my tongue as I know she hates second hand or opshop pieces, and my top was only a dollar from the local opshop, haha! I grew up in hand me downs and my mum and grandma still find opshop pieces for me now and then so I love thrifting - when I have the time for it!

I think there is nothing better than a perfect vintage piece that fits you like a glove and feels different than anything new. Then you can have something truly unique.
