On buying multiples

I usually don't buy multiples of one item.
Did it once a few years back when
I purchased two identical pair of jeans
that fit really well and had one hemmed
for heels and the other for flats.
Orange and purple houndstooth print tshirt Go by Target
Then came the houndstooth tshirts
one is black and white and the other above.
White shorts Larry Levine - Orange bag Lanvin
Red flats Stradivarius
Upon purchase I thought I'd wear them a lot.
The fact is they were never worn.
Oh, the same happened to the jeans,
they got little wear.

What's your take on multiples ?

I occasionally get multiples of items like basic tees or jeans when they fit really well and I know I will wear them. You should wear this top more often-I love the bright colors!

I think the last time I bought a multiple it was my bras! I have bought multiple camisoles in different colours, too, but not for years. I rarely buy a multiple of an actual clothing item, as most of my stuff is thrifted anyway. A multiple would be rare!

I love this bright tee! I think I like this one better than the black and white one!

I'm a fan personally, but don't get a chance to do it that often, as so much of my wardrobe is vintage or repro. It's a lot easier with the latter and I do own some repro pieces (such as 40s style swing trousers from Heyday and one style of Hell Bunny dress) in multiple colourways of the same garment.

I tend to find multiples work best for me personally when they're very versatile pieces that I know I'll almost certainly get a ton of wear out. Cropped cardigans, pencil skirts, or the aforementioned trousers, for example.

I find multiples I buy at the same time (liking something so much in the fitting room I get it in another colour) don't get much wear. Multiples I go back to buy later (when I see another colour of something on sale as I use the first one I bought so much) always get worn more. I've gotten rid of a lot of my multiples of things lately, but there are a couple things like these amazing basic tees I have in 4 colours, or my McQueen scarves, that I've bought over time get a lot of wear.

You can get really bored with your wardrobe if you have multiples, as you feel like you're wearing the same thing all the time.

I'll buy the same boring jeans in black and blue, and in winter, the same boring merino knit tops in multiple colours - and I do get a bit bored, but I get cold and I need to layer.

But where heroes lie - just one at a time and they should all be different to keep me amused.

I feel the same way about multiples - I never wear them OR I wear one and not the other. Multiples are only good for bras and underwear.

Love this look! Regarding to multiples I have several basic tees (on different colors of course). I do give them a lot of use since I wear them when I need to get dress fast. Those are my only multiples. For everything else I believe versatility is the way to go.
