October editing

Editing the closet in October, resulted of
several items leaving:

Grey Rampage skirt, its part of a two piece set.
The fabric stretched out in the butt area, so I gave it up.
Kept the blazer.
Talbots skirt, it was too big.
It was a hand me down and I wore it very few times.

Blue Freesite dress, purchased in February 2011 for about 10.00 USD.
Worn 5 times, thought it was time to let it go because the chest area was
always an issue when wearing it -

Sandra Darren printed dress, it was a gift.
I wore it about 3 times in 5 years, an item with that little wear should not be taking up space in my closet.

My printed Helmut Lang dress.
I bought it on sale a few years ago and never wore it.
So I thought it was time to let go.

Apt. 9 printed green top, also a gift.
I always had to pull on this top as it was quite revealing.
Worn about 5 times in 5 years.

Light blue two piece Quest top.
Worn probably twice in 5 years, its no longer my style.

Green multicoloured lariat like necklace.
Never wear it and when I do, I'm always afraid
it will break.

Pink silver and bead bracelet, never wear it.

October total: 9 items.

When was it the last time you edited your closet ?

October: New in my Closet

I usually do not shop with a list.
I visit stores and then the item and I make visual contact
and the courting begins.
This time around I went out to specifically purchase a pair of nude pumps.
I needed to replace my peep toe Fergalicious pumps
which fell apart last month.
The new pumps had to meet specific needs: super uber comfortable,
steady and fairly priced.
I was lucky to find these Flexi heels for 64.15 USD.
While I am not too crazy about the heel height I have to
admit they do fill the gap I wanted to fill.

While looking for the nude pumps I came across a Geox sale.
Went home with two pairs: one black flat with a bow and a black pump.

How could I not ? They were down from 160.00 USD to 2 pairs for 20.00 USD

I also picked up a pair of silver/grey heels by BCBG Generation, they
were also on sale for 39.99 USD.
Then these nude Sam Edelman's for 45.99 USD.
You'd never know how look they good and
how very comfortable they are.

In the midst of it all I also picked up accessories: gold tone pearl
hoops Mia Collection for 5.00 USD.

Also a gold tone chunky rhinestone necklace Crystal for 5.00 USD.

Two pairs of sunglasses at the dollar store: one red and a purple one.

A dollar each.
This proves I can shop anywhere.

Finally a black long Teri Jon dress for a dinner gala.
Got it at a thrift boutique for 50.00 USD.
It was originally 80.00 USD and I asked for discount.

243.88 USD

In Brunnen

I expected it to be a lot cooler than
it actually is, the weather has been quite
merciful in Brunnen.

Thus allowing me to enjoy early morning walks
before heading out to work.

Trousers Valentino - Top Papaya
The streets were empty and I had the area all to myself.

Grey blazer Suzie Shier - Black patent heels Vince Camuto
So I could not pass the opportunity of attempting to
take pictures with the marvellous Lake Lucerne as a backdrop.

I have to say these turned out quite well.

Specially considering the "tripod" was a trash can ;)

On Lake Lucerne

While on a business trip, my hosts
were kind enough to book me a room
that overlooks Lake Lucerne.

Black trousers - Grey jacket Suzy Shier - Top Papaya -
Black patent heels Vince Camuto
This happens to be one of the largest lakes in Switzerland.

So for almost a week I woke up to the breathtaking sight of
the calm lake and spectacular mountains.

I have surely enjoyed it, however it will make
my return home even more difficult.

It's so nice, I kind of want to stay.

In Valentino

I'm in Brunnen for work.

As I talk to someone while we wait for other people to
arrive she says she likes my grey cardigan. I thank her.
She then asks the brand, I mutter "It's Valentino"
and quickly add "it was a gift from my mother".

Nude wool trousers + Grey and nude cardigan Valentino - Nude pumps Flexi
I thought that was the end of it. Well, no.
As the people we were waiting for begin to arrive she suddenly
finds it amusing to tell everyone who my outfit is made by.

I want the earth to open up and just swallow me.
What is the point?

Some people are just… (fill in the word).

Straight from Zurich Airport

I took a flight Sunday only to arrive
the next day in the afternoon to Zurich.

Liz Claiborne jeans - Black sweater
Although the flight was ok,
you know any flight takes a toll on you.

H&M scarf - Geox black flats
However in order to avoid the jet lag you
need to keep on going.
So, right after I arrived the hotel it was time
to work.

Little or no effort

I have a little riddle for you today.

FCUK French Connection  grey bicycle dress - Brown flats Franco Sarto

What happens when you make little or no effort,
throw anything on and then and
go out for breakfast ?

Want to guess ?

You run into everybody

and of course the day you make an effort and
look great, you only run into your shadow.

Saturday 6:45 am

I walked out the door at about 6:40 am
on Saturday, headed out for class.
Red jeans Old Navy - White button down shirt Forever 21
I got to the classroom at 7:00 am sharp and sat there for at least
15 minutes before my professor walked in.

Bubble necklace - Nine West flower and stripes flats
You thinking what I'm thinking ?
Next Saturday I will leave home at 7:00 am
and get 15 more minutes of sleep :)

Crisp white shirt

Ever since I read about Carolina Herrera's
white crisp signature shirt, I've been on the hunt for one.

Gap jeans - Gold vintage belt
I guess it is one of the reasons why I have over
20 white tops in my closet.

White button down shirt Forever 21
However the white crisp shirt is yet to be found.

Gold flats Nine West
In the meantime, this one from Forever 21 will do.

Have you found your perfect white shirt ?

What brand is it from ?

Repeat H&M

As you  may have read before, one of the reasons
I keep a blog is to avoid outfit repeats.

Blue skirt H&M - tan and blue top H&M - Franco Sarto tan flats
Today I am not living up to this pledge.
I just changed shoes and bags.

Below are from 2011...
19.08.2011
29.09.2011
I guess it's been that long, it really doesn't matter.

The Swiss Cardi

This cardigan has been around for over ten years.

Trousers Valerie Bertinelli - Isola burgundy flats - Purple bag Coach
Looks vintage, but it's not.
I actually bought it at a local store, but did take it on a trip
to Switzerland a few years ago.
So it brings fond memories.

Tan button down shirt Tommy Hilfiger
It does not appear often on the blog as I just don't wear it
and I am having second thoughts on keeping it.

However, for some odd reason,
I feel I cannot part with it.

What do you think, is this a keeper ?

Cardis remembered

I remember the time cardigans were always
part of my outfits.

Green cardigan 525 American -Dress Richard Chai for Target
Then, over time, we drifted apart.

Silk on Shoes flats - Purple bag Coach
But, I never gave them away.
Well, just a few.
Since days have been a little chillier due to the constant rain,
I chose to wear one of my green ones today.
