31.7.12

In July I bought...

During the month of July I picked up some items,
as usual none of these were really needed.

I started of with a pair of black flats that tie at the ankle:
Presumida  for 7.99 USD

While I was in Uruguay I came across a Zara store that was on
sale - which wasn't much of a sale - and walked out with :
a silver envelope bag: 24.00 USD and silver flats from
the girl's department for 23.00 USD -

Since I was headed to cooler climates in July, I bought
2 pairs of tights for 5.99 USD each .
Also bought a black and white beaded necklace for 1.99 USD.
A top caught my eye and came home with me: Marineblu top for 23.00 USD
While in Argentina I went to the crafts fair and had these
3 bracelets custom made for 12.00 USD .

My last purchase was in Argentina, it was this orangey poncho top
Free, which now I am not too sure about, total 25.00 USD.

My July total was 121.52 USD

July editing

I like to keep track of what I get rid of.

Maybe it's odd but there are some of reasons behind it:

1. Sometimes I have doubts if I have given something away.
This way I know if it's just MIA in my closet or if I gave it away.

2. I get edit remorse, which is why I take pictures of
flaws the garment had and which is also why I write why it
was given away.

That way, there is no space for remorse.

For example, this pair of shoes from Bershka (Zara's little sister).
I bought them about 4 years ago, never used them much.
They were purchased on a trip to Valencia, Spain - I love
them but they have deteriorated rather quickly.
They have been taken to the cobbler twice and
they just do not look good anymore.

I have another pair of shoes leaving, these are over ten years old.
They are truly vintage now, its a pair of Skechers - for which I use to work for.
These have walked the world with me, but just do not fit my life style anymore.
I now prefer less bulkier walking shoes, however they are as comfortable
as the first day I got them :) so I am passing them on.

Then there's my leather sandals purchased in Barcelona a few years ago.
I have only worn them twice on the blog. I love them but they are too big.
I took them to the cobbler with hopes of having the back tightened
and it did not work.
However I passed them on to a friend who will wear them to death.

A suit, a ten year old Point Zero grey suit.
I took it with me to a trip recently only to realize in the
worst way possible that it was time to let go.
The fabric does not look well, there is a tiny stain on the pants,
the blazer seems a bit big and a shoulder pad is
missing (it's inside the jacket).
Also the trousers are really low cut.

A houndstooth top from Divided by H&M.
Fabric is really thin and it sticks to the skin which makes me look bulkier
and there is a tiny hole in the front of this top.

A bright green top by Polo Jeans Co.
It's a little tight, too low cut and I just don't wear it enough -
and when I do, I am not comfortable in it.

A fuchsia cardigan by Fever.
It's not worn enough and I have never really been able to style it
to its utmost potential.
Hopefully somebody else will.

Lu by Lolita grey and blue striped shirt.
It was a birthday gift from many years ago, I have worn it 3 times in 3 years.
Too long for my frame, the boatneck stretches throughout the day.
I am never quite comfortable in it, so off it goes.

My Zara black pullover, it was a gift too.
Worn 7 times on the blog, the last time I found a tiny hole in the front of it.
Also, the color was not that black anymore.

Red Volar top was too a gift.
The top was not my style but I still tried it, did not love it as
I tugged on it all day even though I was wearing a tank top underneath.
It's just not me.

Nine West flip flops worn to death - or at least over 23 times.
This was probably my most expensive pair of flip flops ever,
I paid about 20.00 USD
for them which for me is too much for flip flops, they were worth every penny.
I am letting them go because I keep grabbing them and they look really bad.
Also taking a hike is this black beaded necklace.
I realize that I have better looking black necklaces and it's time I use them.

So, that's it - my July edits add up to 80 items so far year to date...

Loose pants

This morning I realized that the safest way to go
was with a pair of loose trousers.

Wild Girl printed trousers - White button down shirt - Black pullover Zara -
Michael Kors red flats - Michael Kors black bag

Nothing form fitting, nothing to make me conscious of how much
I ate during my work trip.

However I still cannot ignore that most clothes are tight,
so I have already started working on a plan to make
those clothes fit right again.

Sleepy goes to work

I am still sleepy and with a bit of jet lag.

Black trousers Rafaella - Black sweater - Vintage scarf - Me Too Red loafer heels - Michael Kors black bag
But, I am back to work this morning and it hit me when
I was getting dressed... everything is tight-er than when I left.
Sleepy had too much room service.

Unlike me

This top is so not me.

Black shorts LL Bean - Black tank and red top Volar - Red flats Michael Kors
It was a gift, not something I would have picked up for myself.
I did not feel comfortable in it and felt weird having the red top
being so short on top of the black tank. So I kept tugging on it.
However I gave it chance and decided to wear it -
but it just did not feel like me.

Are there any particular items that you stay away from ?

28.7.12

Two weeks

After two weeks away from home,
I could not have been happier to return.

Fire Los Angeles dress - Payless wedges - Straw bag

Not so happy with the loads of laundry and many, many things I
have to catch up on.

Still, it's so good to be back.

Mary Kay goodies

I have heard of Mary Kay products.
I had never tried any of them, well at least until now.

I was gifted some items and samples that work well when traveling,
over the last weeks I have finally been using them.

First, the Mary Kay Warm Amber body lotion and fragrance.
To be honest when I sprayed it on at first I was not fully convinced -
but, I waited for it to dry down and it is wonderful. Soft. Tender. Subtle.
Certainly the lotion is the best complement.

Second, its Mary Kay Time Wise 3 in 1 cleanser.
I use it every morning in the shower. I adore the smell,
if you ask me, it smells like a new Barbie doll - which is exactly how
I feel after washing my face with it.
I have rosacea and have had no reaction to this product,
it works very well for me.

Third, the Mary Kay Botanical Effects Cleanser, I had several sample packets.
The product is a white light cream that goes on smoothly and removes make up very well, for the eye area I had to apply product a second time.
It does sting the eyes and leaves the skin feeling
super clean and not in a harsh way.
The Mary Kay Botanical Effects Hydratant is probably one of my favorites.
It's light as a feather, it's absorbed really quickly and make up can be applied right after you put it on.

In general, I really liked the products.

Have you tried any Mary Kay products ?

Floralis Generica

It's a huge flower that sits in the middle of a park in Buenos Aires,
just waiting to be admired.

It's made of stainless steel and has a special mechanism that allows for it
to open or close its 6 petals.

Saltworks jeans - H&M black coat - Michael Kors black bag - Brown Bandolino boots -
Black Prada Baroque sunglasses
It was donated to the city in 2002 by an architect.

It's a way of paying tribute to all of the flowers in the world.

As you can see I totally loved it - all 23 meters high of it .

Colonia

Since I am in Buenos Aires for work and have plenty vacation days
saved up I decided that a few days off were well deserved.

So, I got up early and decided it would be nice to cross the Mar de Plata
river and take the ferry from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Colonia in Uruguay and spend the day.

It takes about an hour to get there and it's a really comfortable ride.

It's one of Uruguay's oldest towns with a small population of 22,000 people.

I did a lot of walking and can imagine that living there must be very
peaceful and very safe.

The homes are quite colonial and they are all different.

I happened to notice that all parked cars were unlocked, doors were open, homes did not care to have any bars on the windows or security doors.

It was a nice feel - people were so welcoming.

It is such a charming place, where you can be surprised if you look well.

For example, coming across an old car that's being used as a table in
a restaurant in the old town.

Saltworks jeans - H&M black jacket - H&M white cap - Bandolino brown boots - Michael Kors black bag

I also got to watch one of the most spectacular sunsets e.v.e.r.

24.7.12

By the pool

A long work day.

Alfani black dress - Jessica Simpson snake print heels
Training and meetings.
It started very early and it paid off as it ended well.

Came back to the hotel to sit by the pool, sip warm coffee and munch
on sweets - oh and answer a few emails.

Thought I'd take a few pictures considering no one was around.

I wish I had a backdrop like this everyday....

23.7.12

Good vs bad

The good part is that I am in Buenos Aires...
it's a little chilly as it is winter here.

Black trousers - Papaya top - Tweed blazer - Black suede Moleca shoes
The bad part is that I am here for work.
However,  I must admit I still enjoy it :)

22.7.12

Sunday at Recoleta

It may sound kind of spooky that one of Buenos Aires' most
visited attractions happens to be a cemetery: Recoleta Cemetery.

Saltworks jeans - Bandolino brown boots - H&M black coat

I have been here before.
The cemetery is right across from my hotel, so I thought
another stroll would not hurt.

I was able to catch part of a tour that told stories about those buried here.

There were the Romeo and Juliet type stories up to the spooky ones.

The one that impressed me the most was the one of a family that
went back to have a body moved from a casket to an urn.

When they opened the casket the body had moved.

The person had scratched their face and the inside of the casket.

The person had been buried alive....
